My Journey. Although I didn’t know it at the time, finding Crossfit was the start of a journey of discovery. Funnily enough U2 has always been one of my favorite bands and their song “I still haven’t found what I’m looking for” probably rings true for me. My kiwicrossfitodyssey is the continuation of this journey of discovery. Firstly it is about my journey to explore, experience and discover. So, whilst I want to see and do a number of things on my journey, the one constant will be Crossfit. Over a period of 8 months I’ll be attending the World CrossFit Games and traveling up the Pacific Coast Highway of the USA from California to San Fransisco, learning Spanish in Central America, backpacking through South America, attending an Oly lifting course and snowboarding in Colorado, visiting family in the UK and finally soaking up the culture and snowboarding in Japan.
This Blog. The main purpose of this blog will be to document my journey. I have aspirations to qualify for the 2013 Australasian CrossFit Regional Games – How will I train while I’m on the road? What are my impressions of the CrossFit community and boxes during my journey? What are the challenges for a traveller that embraces a Paleo Diet? What are my impressions of the places I am visiting and insights into the people / cultures and places? I’ll cover all of these and more I suspect.

Where am I Going? Click here for a Detailed Itinerary and details on Crossfit Boxes that I intend to visit.

How am I Travelling? I’m travelling on a budget, travelling light and hoping to experience local culture and communities where possible to gain a better insight and understanding of the places I am visiting. I am hoping this will allow more interaction and enhance the journey / odyssey. Where possible I’ll be using couch surfing to connect with hosts and other travellers, and in some places I’ll be staying with family and friends. I also hope to connect with the local CrossFit community where possible. Please feel free to contact me if you would like to help out in any way, meet up or connect.

And after my journey? What can say? I’m interested in learning more about business, am fascinated by marketing and events management, and enjoy strategic planning and international relations. I like working with people and would like to extend my Crossfit coaching skill set. I know Crossfit will continue to play an important part in my life, I’m just not sure to what extent.
